Chautauqua is back for 2022!

After two long years of being sidelined with covid issues, like the rest of the world, Chautauqua is finally back. And we are returning to South America — this time: Colombia!

We sent Alan and Katie there on a scouting mission for several months last year – tough job I know, but somebody has (gets?) to do it. They came up with an incredible venue.

As always, Chautauqua means bringing together a small group of people to spend a week in a very cool place…

…eating great food…

…and having cool conversations…

…sometimes in warm places…

…and, of course, you will have a comfortable retreat.

There will be excursions to see some of the surrounding area, presentations and Q&A from your four speaker/hosts and the opportunity to have a one-on-one private session with the speaker of your choice.

Most importantly, you’ll get to hang out with your fellow attendees who, if past Chautauquas are any guide, will be an incredibly diverse and facinating group who all share being on this incredible Financial Independence journey.

Curious as to what past attendees have to say? Here you go!

If you are curious as to where we’ll be, here’s a little history of Villa de Leyva.

Week 1 — September 3-10

Week 2 — September 10-17

As always, for each Chautauqua week we invite a special guest speaker and I am particularly thrilled with the two we have for this year. Both have been on our radar for some time and I can’t wait to hang out with them.

Week 1:

Doc G. of the Earn and Invest Podcast and author of the soon-to-be released book Taking Stock: A Hospice Doctor’s Advice on Financial Independence, Building Wealth, and Living a Regret-Free Life

Week 2:

Ken Okoroafor of The Humble Penny and the creator of the Financial Joy Academy

Both Weeks will also feature…

Kristy & Bryce of Millennial Revolution

Alan Donegan founder of the Rebel Business School

and me

If you want to know more about us, here it is.

Each attendee will have the opportunity to select the speaker of their choice for a private one-on-one session during the week.

You must be vaccinated to enter Colombia.

Signing up

If you want to come, sign up here.

When you arrive in Colombia, we’ll be there to meet you. From there, we take care of everything.

Everything is included in the price except alcohol and any gifts or souvenirs you might chose to buy. On Friday there will be optional tours available at extra cost if you wish, or you can hang out at the hotel with us. At week’s end, we’ll return you to the airport for your flight home, and our tearful goodbyes.

Hope to see you there!

From the comments below…

Q: Would you ever consider recording some of the keynote speakers and posting links? Even short term links? So many of your followers would love the chance to see these talks, and for those what are able attend in person they know that the networking and tribe-building have immeasurable value, so I don’t think it would take away from the attendees to do this. Please consider 🙂 Jerri

Hi Jerri…

The short answer is “no”.

We have been asked and have considered it before, but our feeling is that the recording process would be intrusive and would break the flow of the event. The people attending are our priority.

That said, it is important to note (as I have in the past) that there is no “secret sauce” for FI success we only disclose at Chautauquas. Indeed, I have a particular loathing for ‘gurus’ who lure people in with a free seminar or video with the sole purpose of selling them expensive courses that then supposedly reveal the ‘secret’.

I, and all the other speakers, have made our ideas freely available with our own books, on our blogs and/or podcasts and as guests on others.

While there are certainly unique moments at Chautauqua, the core ideas are the same. It is more about building connections and, as I say, “going to cool places to hang out with cool people and to have cool conversations.”

Hope to see you there sometime!
